CHILD AND ADOLESCENT OBESITY PREVENTION AND CURE COUNSELLING CENTER

Nowadays obesity is a worldwide phenomenon reaching almost epidemic proportions, so that it is a serious human health risk factor. Childhood or adolescent obesity is accompanied by adverse effects on cardiovascular system: hypertension, abnormality in lipid matter concentration in blood (lipid storage disorders), high cholesterol(, endocrine system, Type 2-Diabetes Mellitus,  menstrual cycle irregularities, mental health (depression, negative self-image), obesity can cause snoring and other sleep-breathing discomforts, orthopedic problems (knee and hip pains, etc.)

The most frequent childish obesity causes are irregular diet and reduced physical activity. In finding the solution to child and adolescent obesity problems it is necessary to stick to proper diet advice and adopt healthy lifestyles (maximum walk, recreation, sport).

The “MEDIKOM” outpatient center launched the education and counseling program for children, their parents and adults, in order to take an active part in obesity prevention and cure and its effects.

The PRICE of the diet counseling equals that of a child medicine specialist examination.

CHILD SPECIALIST EXAMINATIONS UNTIL AGE 1

  • Child specialist examination – comprehensive examination implies general clinical examination, weight measurement, body length and head circumference measurement, gathering data about delivery: first days at home; sleep, feeding and diet, and child’s progress. Breast-feeding advice, laying the emphasis on natural food; advice concerning non-milk food introduction after six months, following and monitoring of the child’s psychomotor development. The comprehensive examination is carried out in the first (I), second (II), third (III), fifth (V), sixth (VI), ninth (IX) and the twelfth (XII) months of the baby’s life.
  • Vaccination according to the Vaccination Calendar.
    1. The second dose of the vaccine against Hepatitis B at the end of the first month;
    2. Immunization against Dyphteria, tetanus, Pertussis (whooping cough), Haemophilus influenza, polyo (palsy), is to be carried out when the child completes two months in three doses – minimum 6 weeks’ pauses between two doses administered.
  • Hip ultrasound examination at the age of two, four and six months.
  • Complete blood picture (blood count) in the sixth (VI) month.
  • Dental medicine specialist examination in the ninth (IX) month, i.e. upon the eruption of the milk teeth

CHILD SPECIALIST EXAMINATIONS AT THE AGE 1 – 2 years

  1. Preventive child medicine specialist examination
  2. Immunization against mumps, measles and rubella (MMR) – one dose at the age of 12-15 months
    (1) – Immunization against Dyphteria, tetanus, Pertussis (whooping cough) / DTP,Haemophilus influenza, Polio – the fourth (IV) dose – at the age of 18-24 months.

  1. Preventive child medicine specialist examination
  2. Preventive dental medicine specialist examination
  3. Speech defects specialist examination
  4. Complete blood picture – blood count and urine culture examination

CHILD SPECIALIST EXAMINATIONS IN THE FOURTH YEAR OF AGE

  1. Preventive child medicine specialist examination
  2. Preventive dental medicine specialist examination
  3. Speech defects specialist examination
  4. Physical medicine specialist examination
  5. ORL specialist examination
  6. Complete blood picture – blood count and urine culture examination.

CHILD SPECIALIST EXAMINATIONS IN THE FIFTH YEAR OF AGE

  1. Preventive child medicine specialist examination.

PRE-ELEMENTARY SCHOOL EXAMINATIONS

  1. Preventive child medicine specialist examination
  2. Speech defects specialist examination
  3. Physical medicine specialist examination
  4. ORL specialist examination
  5. Complete blood picture – blood count and urine culture examination.
  6. Ophthalmologist specialist examination
  7. Preventive dental medicine specialist examination
  8. Revaccination against measles, mumps and rubella (MMR)

CHILD SPECIALIST EXAMINATIONS – AGE 7 (seven) TO 14 (fourteen)

  1. Child specialist examination – a yearly comprehensive examination
  2. the third revaccination against Dyphteria, tetanus (DT) and OPV – one dose at the age of 14 (fourteen).

THE COMPREHENSIVE PRE-ELEMENTARY SCHOOL EXAMINATION

The comprehensive examination includes:

  1. Laboratory analyses, blood picture and urine culture examination
  2. Physical medicine specialist examination
  3. ORL specialist examination
  4. Ophthalmology specialist examination
  5. Speech defects specialist examination
  6. Dental medicine specialist examination
  7. Child medicine specialist examination with diet advice and School Medical Certificate issue.

The PRICE of the comprehensive examination is: 8,700.00 RSD (Serbian Dinars). The comprehensive examination can be organized at your convenience, and the child will spend in our outpatient center two hours up to two hours and a half on average, with all the required examinations done. If the vaccination is needed, the vaccines are additionally charged. At the vaccination, you should bring along your Vaccination Calendar. At the arrival, a form is filled in for the school to be given in.
